FOOTNOTES OF AN EXPLORATION
An image-based reinterpretation of the footnotes accompanying the letters of explorer and botanist Joseph Banks. He navigated, together with James Cooke, the Pacific Ocean on the HMS Endeavor, collecting all kind of plants and animals.
The collection of images presented in this book was the result of a new, fictional voyage of discovery, documenting lost bookmarks in second-hand bookshops. Footnotes can be interpreted as the forgotten things, the trivialities of a journey. The objects I found inside these used books have quite the same characteristics. I reversed the idea and made these non-things to become the main subject, creating an unusual and surprising discourse.
